Oral history research grants for UCLA grad students
Here is a funding opportunity for UCLA graduate students who are making use of oral history in their dissertations.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF ORAL HISTORY RESEARCH GRANTS
The UCLA Library’s Center for Oral History Research is seeking applications for its 2008 Gold Shield Alumnae Oral History Graduate Research Grants.
Two Gold Shield Research Grants of up to $2,500 apiece will be awarded to UCLA graduate students in any field of study who, as part of their dissertation research, are conducting oral history or other in-depth qualitative interviews with a comparable social or historical focus. The grants must be used to cover expenses associated with conducting the interviews, such as equipment, transcription, and travel. Preference will be given to projects focusing on Southern California and/or on aspects of UCLA history.
Requirements:
Graduate students must have completed their class work and have been advanced to candidacy (i.e., their dissertation prospectus must have been approved by their committee).
Individuals who have previously received a Gold Shield Oral History Grant are ineligible to apply again.
If interviews deal with areas relevant to the UCLA Center for Oral History Research’s collection, interviewees are willing, and IRB agreements allow, grant recipients must agree to donate their interview recordings and any transcripts to the Center for Oral History Research.
