Europe to Pilot Open-Access Project for EU-Financed Research
In a similar move to the NIH Public Access Policy, the European Union Commission began an open-access initiative by piloting a project which requires making all published research results funded by the EU to be made openly available after 6-12 months of publication. The funds, totaling over 50 billion Euros, cover research in health, energy, environment, social sciences, and information and communication technologies. The pilot will run through the end of 2008.
