L.A. Times Editorial Supports Free Access to Taxpayer-Funded Research

In a July 27 editorial, the Los Angeles Times supports a provision of a National Institutes of Health funding bill that stipulates “the results of the studies the government funds must be made freely available online within 12 months of their publication.”

    This blog looks great! Why leave it in the sandbox? Of course, I missed the last meeting where everyone probably discussed reasons to leave it in the sandbox, but I don’t see any obvious reasons why it shouldn’t go live sooner rather than later. The Texas Digital Library scholarly communications blog that Sharon pointed us to has a bit more polish, but I think that polish can develop over time. Just a thought.
