This application offers convenience for the more than 50,000 UCLA Facebook members who can now search our holdings and ask us questions directly in Facebook.  

The experience that we gained from developing this application will also enable us to offer the same service in other similar environments, such as course management systems, with some alterations.  

You can install the application from the following URL; note that a Facebook account is required to download:http://apps.facebook.com/uclacatalog/All Facebook users can also browse or search the application by its name, UCLA Library Catalog.

We would like to inform you about a scheduled service upgrade of the CNKI platform, to version KNS5.2. This release will include several new improvements, many of which were specifically requested by users.

To accommodate the upgrade, the English-language interface of CNKI will be temporarily unavailable from Dec. 24, 2007 - January 1, 2008.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause. The Chinese interface, however, will be available without interruption throughout, and is also accessed via the URL http://china.eastview.com.

The “mail” button on the Request confirmation page is currently not functioning. When attempting to send a copy of the Request through this button, the message “Email Fails” appears.

This issue does not affect the flow of requests to the campus ILL department; all requests that reach the “Request Confirmation” screen will be sent to the campus ILL department.

The Request team is currently investigating this issue; please stay tuned for further updates as they become available.

The Beta was rolled out on March 1, and the Library has collected much information over the past six months. We really appreciate users who have sent in your feedback, which not only tells stories about your usage on RSS, but also revealed patterns of your peers. Applause!

Your feedback also makes our job in the Library much easier too. Up to this point, we have been pretty much guessing what feeds you need. Along with your feedback (anecdotal evidence), the library has another weapon to help us understand your usage preference, which is the web analytics (WA) tool (Quantified evidence). One thing I have to mention is that since RSS is a feature of Web 2.0 and most of the web analytics tools are still designed for Web 1.0 paradigm using web log analysis. So, we can only infer or interpret your behavior based on the numbers provided by our WA tool; however, it is interesting that the numbers tell us the similar stories as your feedback does. We would like to share our findings with you and let you validate them.
