We are pleased to announce the inaugural year of the Student Writing Center. Our service is replacing Covel Academics in the Commons Composition and ESL Lab.
The Student Writing Center offers UCLA undergraduates one-on-one sessions on their writing. The Center is staffed by peer learning facilitators (PLFs), undergraduates who are trained to help at any stage in the writing process and with writing assignments from across the curriculum. PLFs tailor appointments to the concerns of each writer.
Our Services
Scheduled appointments
- 50-minute appointments
- work in person with a Peer Learning Facilitator (PLF)
Drop-in appointments:
- writing consultations in the residence halls for students living in the res. halls
- Mon.-Thurs. from 7-9 p.m.
- 10-15 minute sessions
- no appointment needed — first-come, first-served
Online Writing Center (OWC):
- 50-minute appointments
- submit your paper online, using Google Docs
- discuss your paper with a Peer Learning Facilitator, using Google Voice Chat
