Melvyl Catalog unavailable early Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008

The Melvyl Catalog will be taken down on Sunday, February 10, 2008 between 12:01 AM through 10 AM for system maintenance, and will be unavailable intermittently.   During this period, some of the Shared Cataloging records in local campus catalogs will also be unavailable.

CDLAlert: English interface to CNKI will be unavailable Dec 24 - Jan 1

This just in from East View:

We would like to inform you about a scheduled service upgrade of the CNKI platform, to version KNS5.2. This release will include several new improvements, many of which were specifically requested by users.

To accommodate the upgrade, the English-language interface of CNKI will be temporarily unavailable from Dec. 24, 2007 - January 1, 2008.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause. The Chinese interface, however, will be available without interruption throughout, and is also accessed via the URL http://china.eastview.com.

CDLAlert UPDATE: Request Confirmation email button now working

Subject: CDLAlert: Request Confirmation email button not working

The “mail” button on the Request confirmation page is currently not functioning. When attempting to send a copy of the Request through this button, the message “Email Fails” appears.

This issue does not affect the flow of requests to the campus ILL department; all requests that reach the “Request Confirmation” screen will be sent to the campus ILL department.

The Request team is currently investigating this issue; please stay tuned for further updates as they become available.

Melvyl Catalog Freeze Begins

You may notice some inconvenience when using Melvyl Catalog. As part of the Aleph 16.2 Melvyl catalog software upgrade, campus Melvyl Input and FTP Liaisons were informed several months ago that there would be a freeze in the loading of campus records into Melvyl. The freeze began on August 8, and will continue for 7-8 weeks. We will update you when the freeze stops.

The freeze will have an impact on what users see in the Melvyl catalog; they will be unable to discover newly added resources from the campuses in Melvyl during this period. Users should check local OPACs for recent materials. In addition, since there will be no adding of new records during the period of the freeze, users will not receive their usual Automatic Updates (SDI Requests).
