A Centenary Celebration of Ralph J. Bunche

One of UCLA’s most distinguished alumni, Ralph Johnson Bunche (1903-71) fought poverty and racism on his way to becoming one of the twentieth century’s leading peacemakers. Part of an international celebration of the centenary of Bunche’s birth, this exhibit celebrates his remarkable legacy by focusing on his accomplishments in three main areas: as a student, a scholar, and a diplomat.

Following his successful 2005 solo Powell recital, UCLA musicology graduate student Eric Wang returns to perform on a new five-octave, single-manual Italian harpsichord by Yves Beaupre as well as a 1979 Italian harpsichord by John Phillips. His program features compositions by Johann Jacob Froberger, George Frideric Handel, Domenico Scarlatti, and Antonio Soler.

Admission is free, and no reservations are required.

ARTstor Image Database Expands

ARTstor, the digital image database that UCLA has subscribed to since 2005, is growing at a substantial rate. New collections continue to be added on a regular basis, and more than five hundred thousand images are now available. (more…)

Library Receives NEH Grant for Near Eastern Manuscripts Project
