Papers: organize and store your PDFs

Store PDF files with Papers and create a customized, searchable library. Click and drag  PDFs on your computer into Papers and use Papers’ integrated search feature to look for new papers in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and more.  The Papers interface integrates features of other popular software packages to add value to the way you use scientific literature:

  • Create smart folders that automatically update as you import new articles into your library.
  • Use folders to organize related articles, and assign keywords to articles.
  • Select, highlight, and write notes on articles or figures.
  • Rate individual papers with a series of stars.
  • Use tabbed browsing to view and compare multiple articles simultaneously.

Individuals must purchase a license for Papers, and it is only available for Mac OS X 10.4 and higher.

Do you know any version for Windows? can you tag your files with this software? can you search into the content of many PDF files at a time? thanks for the answer

  2. biomedical Says:

Hi Victor, Unfortunately, I do not know of any similar programs developed for PCs. You can attach tags to your PDF files with Papers, and search across multiple PDFs. Since the UCLA Library is a PC-based work environment, I don’t actually have access to use this program, so I’m not sure what type of searching is possible. You may want to direct your questions to the Help center on the papers site: http://mekentosj.com/papers/help15/.

When using Papers, are you able to take advantage of all of PubMed’s search features? For example, is it easy to use PubMed’s Related Articles feature?

Or, do you lose functionality when you search PubMed from within Papers?

Hi Julie, Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I was unable to install Papers onto my work computer, so I am unsure of its exact technical capabilities. I would encourage you to ask this question to the technical support forum on the Papers site, http://mekentosj.com/papers/help15/.
